It's important that students learn guidelines for the ethical use of internet resources. This PowerPoint was created as an assignment for a Wilkes course. The images were all from an appropriate creative commons license group in Flickr or used with permission. They were edited online using Picnik. I know it's not just up to English teachers to insist that such guidelines be met. We all need to do our part in our own blogs and wikis and in our classes.

When considering publishing platforms, explore the Terms of Service carefully to ensure that you and your students retain the intellectual property rights for hosted content.

The video above was created by Eric Faden to help clarify the concept of "fair use" in the US and may be freely downloaded from the CIS (Center for Internet and Society -- "founded in 2006 to provide legal support to a range of projects designed to clarify, and extend, the boundaries of "fair use" in order to enhance creative freedom" ) website of the Stanford Law School.
